Ditzingen, Germany, October 24, 2006 – TRUMPF TKA 300/500 series edge trimmers can be used to deburr the edges of steel sheet metal, non-ferrous metal and superior quality plastics or to prepare these edges for welding. Compared to angle grinders, these tools work five to ten times faster on average. TKA 300 and 500 model edge trimmers are used to produce final edges in sheets that are clean, deburred and oxide-free. This is required to eliminate the risk of injury caused by burrs in carriers and other accessible metal parts for example. It is likewise important to prepare edges for welding and round off or chamfer housing panels for a more pleasing visual impression. The primary difference between the models in practice is the bevel height. While the TKA 300 can trim bevels up to 2.2 mm high and 3 mm long in 400 N/mm2 steel, the more powerful TKA 500 produces bevels up to 3.5 mm high and 5 mm long in the same material. Thanks to moderate weights of 3 kg (TKA 300) and 3.5 kg (TKA 500), these tools are pleasant to use and the operators can work with them for long periods of time without suffering from fatigue.
